We watch the wildlife from our windows as well as from videos taken by trailcams. Much of the fauna is attracted to the birdfeeder, of course. Also, they come under the apple trees when the trees bear fruit. Keeping the birdfeeder for the birds has been a problem. Too many larger animals have succeeded in looting the feeder. The main culprits have been the raccoons. This year we may have solved the raccoon problem. The bear problem is another matter. The inexpensive birdfeeders seem to have a breakaway feature. Even though nothing can stop the bears from getting the seed, they do not seem to destroy these feeders. The crow did its best to destroy the suet, but that is ok.

A variety of critters like the apples. Deer, naturally. Coyotes will eat anything. However, we were surprised to see a bear under the tree, which is close to our front door.

This year we saw families of critters. Most years we see families of deer. A mother deer with two families was a first. Seeing a family of bears was new. And, we are lucky to have one sighting of the elusive bobcat, but how about a family of three?
